Privacy Policy — Owlio

Owlio is a browser extension that shows your crypto portfolio across the wallets you add. This policy explains what the extension keeps, what it sends over the network, and what it is allowed to do in your browser.

The short version

• Owlio has no server of its own, no accounts and no sign-in.
• Everything you enter and everything Owlio downloads is stored only in your browser.
• We, the developers, receive nothing: no addresses, no balances, no usage data.
• To show balances and prices, the extension talks directly to public third-party services. Those services can see your IP address, your wallet addresses and which assets you hold.

What Owlio stores, and where

All data lives in your browser profile, in storage that belongs to the extension:

• the wallet addresses you add and the labels you give them;
• your settings;
• downloaded data: balances, transaction history, NFTs, prices, token and NFT images and related information, kept so the panel works quickly and offline;
• technical records of what has already been downloaded, so work is not repeated.

This data is not sent to us or synchronised between your devices. Moving your setup to another browser is done only by an explicit export and import in Settings, using a file you handle yourself.

You can delete everything at any time with Settings → Data → Wipe all data, or by uninstalling the extension.

What leaves your browser

Owlio does not send data to us, because there is no server of ours to send it to. To do its job, the extension makes requests from your browser directly to public third-party services that provide blockchain data, market data, information about tokens and NFTs, and images — for example explorers, indexers, network nodes, price providers and content delivery networks.

Assume that these services can learn everything the extension asks them about:

• your IP address, as with any website you visit;
• the wallet addresses you added;
• which tokens and NFTs your wallets hold, because the extension may request prices, details and pictures for any of them;
• anything you type into a search in the extension, which is passed to such a service.

Such a set of assets is often unique, so a service could match it against public blockchain records and link your IP address to your wallets. This is a limitation of every wallet tracker that works without its own server, not a choice specific to one feature of Owlio.

Each of these services is an independent third party with its own privacy policy. Which services are used, in what order, and which are used as fallbacks is an implementation detail that changes as the extension evolves; this policy does not list them. No service is sent anything beyond the kinds of information listed above. Some settings reduce what the extension requests; this section describes the most it ever sends.

Owlio does not combine these requests into a profile and does not send them to anyone else. There is no account or identifier of ours attached to them.

Links to other websites

The extension contains links to external websites, such as Owlio’s community channel. Nothing is loaded from them until you click. A link may include a tag naming the screen it was placed on, which the website you open can see; Owlio itself sends us nothing. Once you open it, the website’s own privacy policy applies.

Permissions

• Storage (storage, unlimitedStorage) — to keep the data described above in your browser; transaction history can be larger than the default quota.
• Side panel (sidePanel) — the interface opens in the browser side panel.
• Alarms (alarms) — to continue downloading data in the background in small steps.
• Request rules (declarativeNetRequestWithHostAccess) — to adjust headers on the extension’s own requests where a public service would otherwise reject them. It is not used to read, block or change your browsing.
• Optional access to specific sites — requested only when a feature needs it, for example when you add a wallet on a network whose service requires it. If you decline or later revoke it, only that feature stops working.

Owlio does not read the pages you visit or your browsing history.

What we do not do

• No analytics, telemetry, crash reports or usage counters.
• No advertising, and no selling or sharing of data — we have none to sell.
• No accounts, no email addresses, no sign-in.
• No remote code: everything that runs is in the package published in the Chrome Web Store.

Children

Owlio is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

Adding new networks, new data or image services, or new features that use them does not change this policy, as long as they stay within what is described above. If Owlio ever starts collecting data itself, sends data to a new kind of recipient, or needs a new kind of permission beyond the optional access to specific sites described above, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change.
